#GUTTABOYZ Album Review by: Zach Startin

From the Southside of Chicago IL Sig, Herb, and newest member Harvy Allbangers escaped an ominous street life by pursuing careers as entertainers. They spent years honing their craft in Chicago’s underground circuit, and have shared stages all over the country with artists like LMFAO, Ludacris, and Nas. It is very clear that growing up in Chicago has had a profound impact on them as artists.  As evident by their sometimes braggadocios, aggressive, but catchy, lyrics and delivery.

“You either break, breakdown or either breakthrough” Herb Spits on the opening track G.H.A.O a clear indication of the group’s undying determination hard work and dedication to their fans, their image, and themselves. At first listen I was drawn to the overwhelming bass and aggressive delivery of the title track Gutta Boyz which to my perception is a reference to their current status in the indie scene and their willingness to do the work that others can’t or wont.

As I kept listening and continued to be impressed by the albums fluidity and catchy one liners and hooks I approached the mid point of the album and was blown away completely. Out of nowhere there was an incredibly well thought transition rapid and smooth like a fine tune sports car from Hip Hop to R&B Style tracks like One Night, and Girl Your Amazing,

"We have something for everybody on this album, with more on the way…" Sig

This album truly does have something for everyone from aggressive opinionated bass pounding street tracks to dance tracks like the single get her done, and work it work it to the R&B tracks I mentioned earlier.

My final thoughts on this album are that it is very well put together very thoroughly planned. Everything has its place and purpose down to the finest detail and I think that’s what makes this album so great and a must have for any hip hop or R&B enthusiast because you can play it from start to finish without skipping a track. Die hard L.G. fans will be excited for their decision to think out of the box all while maintaining the signature L.G. style they know and love. New fans will be impressed by the diversity of this album. L.G needs to be praised and commended for their multi dimensional music hard work love for the music driven efforts. One dimensional music is becoming common place in my opinion and Level Ground could teach artist new and old a thing or two about new approaches to hip hop and R&B and creating fresh idea’s in a world full of rehashes and heard it before but that’s only my opinion.
